Add the IP address for both the hostname and the FQDN of your ESXi host. You will need to select “all file types” to be able to see it. You will be able to detect a server but it will have a 0.0.0.0 IP address. With just that, you will not be able to connect to the ESXi server.

Then you need a Windows computer running LSI MegaRaid Storage Manager (MSM) software. Right click on Notepad and select “Run as Administrator.” Open your system hosts file, which can be found at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. With this, the ESXi server acts as a proxy to query the RAID controller from the network. On your Windows virtual machine, you need to edit the hosts file so it can communicate with the esx host. Lastly there is a tricky step needed on the VM guest so that it can communicate with the host.

Also be sure to install the vib using the the "no-sig-check" parameter. Before installing the VIB make sure to change your host acceptance level to "community supported" and enter maintenance mode. However there are a couple gotchas in those seemingly easy instructions. Peter Zhabin is absolutely correct with his instructions on needing to install the VIB and setting up the CIM service and firewall rules.

10x on 2012 R2, 50x on Windows Server 2019 and 20x on Server 2022.Before anyone says it, I don't always in-place upgrade and would much rather rebuild a new server when it comes to upgradi. Good morningI have a VSphere infrastructure of approx.

After updating drivers and the SIMS provider I did a line by line comparison of the installed VIB versions between the fresh install and the existing install.Made static host entries for my hosts inside the Windows guest.Disabled both the ESXi and Windows guest's firewall.Disable/enable CIM agent (esxcli system wbem set -enable false and then esxcli system wbem set -enable true). The local web client on each host does show all the proper items under Monitor -> Hardware -> Storage.A non-inclusive unordered list of what I have checked or done: After updating the drivers and installing the provider of course. I have done much searching and troubleshooting but have not made any progress other than if I do a fresh install of 6.5 on a new flash drive that same MSM will discover them correctly. MSM was able to discover and manage the controller in each host just fine in 6.0 but since the upgrade to 6.5 it will not discover any of them. I have a Windows 2012R2 guest running the latest LSI Megaraid Storage Manager for monitoring the controller and drive health. Local storage in each is provided by an IBM M5015 (LSI 9260-8i) but they boot from USB flash drives. My homelab consists of 3 whitebox hosts that I recently upgraded from 6.0 to 6.5.
